Location

The Marina South Pier MRT Station (NS28) is the future southern terminal station of the North South Line in Singapore. This station is located on reclaimed land and is built as part of the North South Line Extension when it is scheduled to open in 2014.

The station is located near the Marina South Pier and the upcoming International Cruise Terminal. An extension to Marina Barrage was previously planned but plans for that were shelved.

The station's working name Marina Pier MRT Station was not revealed until the Land Transport Authority updated the rail map which includes future MRT lines on May 3 2010, not long after the opening of the Circle Line Stages 1 & 2. [1]. A second tentative name of Marina South Pier MRT Station was released when the map was updated on Sep 19 2011.

A $357.5 million contract was awarded to Samsung C&T Corporation for the civil works of the extension. Construction works for the station started in December 2009.
